During the nationwide lockdown in 2020, people lacked money even for food: awareness of the importance of basic food growing skills increased. Initiated by organizations such as Good Food Namibia and committed members of the population, many small gardening projects emerged in the township, enabling people to be at least partially self-sufficient. Basic agricultural techniques are also  to be taught on a small scale in the ODEC. Children without a school place and participants registered in the women’s workshop will be the main profiteers. The harvest will be used to prepare meals in the kitchen. The garden project will also include educational courses on the environment and sustainability.
