The correct use of computers is becoming increasingly important due to globalisation, as knowledge in this area is now a crucial requirement for many job vacancies. Learning the basics at an early age is therefore of great importance – but many lack the financial means and the right environment to make this possible. According to the SDG Report 2019, only 26.8% of Namibians over the age of 15 used a computer in a three-month period [Namibia Statistics Agency 2019, p. 101], while 74.2% had no access.

At ODEC, IT lessons are an integral part of the curriculum and are taught in a fun way from Grade 1 onwards. As a digital school, every class is equipped with laser projectors instead of traditional chalkboards. This introduces children to digitalisation at an early age and gives them the digital skills they need for the future.
