The “DRC School Project & Community Centre” is located on sandy soil of the Namib Desert in a „township“ named “Democratic Resettlement Community” (DRC), an informal settlement of Swakopmund in Namibia. The school project is one of the few places where there is running water, connected sanitation and electricity.

Our school project offers daily support to up to 200 children and young people in different areas. The school project forms an oasis, supporting even the youngest children with a kindergarten and providing much-needed support for the older ones during school hours in the form of homework supervision and infrastructure for research tasks. This is immensely important for the children of the township who have no table, writing materials or light at home.

In addition, those who have not been given a place at a school are picked up and taught here. By doing this, we not only provide education to all these children, but also give them a safe haven and structured daily life that keeps them off the streets, away from violence and drugs. Our programs represent a tremendous change in the lives of the children, resulting in lower dropout rates, better grades, fewer teen pregnancies and reduced substance abuse. All of these programs are supported by our dedicated staff who put their heart and passion into educating the children every day.

The school project is operated officially by us, Tangeni Shilongo Namibia. That means, we are always in need of material and financial donations. We regularly have the following expenses:
